Air Fry Carrot Chips

Air fryer carrot chips are my favorite. They are delicious, crispy, and healthy snacks and a side dish. These are gluten-free and low calories snacks that you can have as a side dish without any worry.

The benefit is that carrots are a calorie-efficient vegetable that is also nutrient-dense, and high in fiber and vitamins. By air frying them instead of deep-frying, you can reduce the amount of added fat and calories in them.

How To Make Carrot Chips Crispier In The Air Fryer?

You can easily make the carrot chips extra crispy by just following a few steps.

Cut the carrots into thin, uniform slices. This will allow them to cook evenly and crisp up more quickly.

Make sure to add a small amount of oil. This will help the chips crisp up and brown evenly. You can use any oil, such as canola oil, olive oil, or vegetable oil. And only use a small amount to avoid making the chips greasy.

Cook the carrot chips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Overcrowding the basket can prevent the chips from getting crispy, so cook them in batches if necessary.

You can either increase the temperature slightly or increase the cooking time slightly. For temperature, you can use 380 F instead of 370 F while keeping the time constant. If you want to increase the time, you can increase the time by 2 mins extra while keeping the temperature constant i.e., 370 F.

The Best Way To Cut Carrot Chips

Start with washing the carrots and then peel the carrots.

Cut off the top and bottom of each carrot then slice the carrots in half lengthwise.

Lay the flat side of each half on the cutting board and cut each half into thin slices, about 1/4 inch thick. I use a crinkle knife for cutting the carrots for making carrot chips. You can also use a slicer to cut them according to your preference.

How To Prevent Sogginess In Carrot Chips?

Mostly sogginess is not caused by fresh carrot chips, they are fresh and crispy. And I would recommend if you don’t want your carrot chips to become soggy, cook them either in the oven or in the air fryer.

Another main cause of sogginess in carrot chips is excess moisture. Therefore, it’s important to pat the carrot slices dry with a paper towel or kitchen towel before coating them with oil and spices.

Do I Have To Soak My Carrots First?

Not necessarily. I don’t soak carrots before cooking them. In fact, I never have soaked carrots in my life before cooking. Soaking the carrots could actually introduce excess moisture to the slices, making them more likely to become soggy in the air fryer. Instead, simply wash and dry your carrots thoroughly before cutting them into slices.

How To Store And Reheat Leftovers?

If you have any leftover carrots chips, you can store them in an airtight jar or container and put them in the fridge. They will easily last for 3-4 days. You can also freeze them for 2 months in the freezer as well.

And when you want to eat them again, just take them out of the fridge and reheat them in the air fryer for 3 mins at 370 F. You can also reheat them in the microwave oven but it is most likely to make them soggy and moist.
