How To Make Air Fryer Homemade Pockets?

Ham & Cheese Hot Pockets Recipe

Homemade hot pockets are easy to make and require only a few ingredients. You need an egg, yeast, mozzarella cheese, oil, sugar, small pepperoni, flour, and some fresh veggies as per your taste.

Take a bowl and add one cup of moderately warm water, 2 teaspoons of yeast, and one tablespoon of sugar. Mix these with the help of a wooden spoon. Once done allow it to rest for a few minutes.

Now add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, one teaspoon of salt, and 3 cups of flour. Mix slowly for 2-3 minutes and then take out the dough into the lightly floured surface and knead the dough for a few minutes. Once done, put the dough in a bowl and cover it with aluminum foil and let it rinse at room temperature. It can take from 60 to 90 minutes to rinse. You can also rinse it in preheated oven as it will be quicker to rinse it.

Once it is rinsed, cut it with a knife and make 8- 10 pieces. Then punch it to make it a bit flat and add cheese and ham from one side and then fold the other side. Once done brush each piece of hot pocket with egg wash form all aside. And that’s it your homemade cheese and ham hot pockets are ready to be cooked in the air fryer.

Notes & Tips

Make sure not to overfill your air fryer basket with hot pockets. Normally 3 to 4 hot pockets are fine but it will depend on the size of the air fryer you are using.

You can make your own dipping sauce to try with hot pockets. Some of my favorite dipping sauces are honey mustard sauce, mayo sauce, garlic sauce, sweet and sour sauce, fresh mint sauce, and Teriyaki sauce.

Don’t overcook the hot pockets or else the outside layer will be hard to chew.

After you have air-fried hot pockets, allow them to sit for a few minutes before serving.

Bear in mind not to preheat the air fryer with parchment paper or aluminum foil because due to fast blowing hot air inside the air fryer, it can stuck inside the heating element.

For thicker hot pockets you will need to cook them for additional 1-2 minutes.

How To Store And Reheat Leftover Hot Pockets?

You can easily reheat leftover hot pockets in the air fryer. Simply place them in the air fryer basket and air fry for 4 minutes at 370 F.

Regarding storage of leftovers, you can easily store leftover hot pockets in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

Additional Toppings For Hot Pockets

For homemade hot pockets, you can add a variety of toppings as per your choice. I like to add pepperoni, cheese, and minced green veggies. You can also add beef mince, chicken mince, and bacon bites as well. Apart from these, you can try jalapeno and ranch dressings as well.

How Long To Air Fry Hot Pockets?

The exact time required to air fry hot pockets will vary based on the brand, size, and temperature of your air fryer. It will also depend on the thickness and size of hot pockets as thicker hot pockets will take a slightly longer time. However, as a general guideline, hot pockets should be cooked in the air fryer for about 12-14 minutes at 400°F (205°C).

If you preheat the air fryer for a few minutes before adding the hot pockets, it will also result in quicker cooking and will also ensure even cooking.
