Air fryer Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Fries

I am a huge fan of potato fries, and I like to experiment with different flavors, brands, and methods of cooking. Whether they are French fries, checker fries, steak fries, sweet potato fries, or any other variation, I enjoy them all and wish I could have them every day.

Trader Joe’s sweet potato fries are no exception, they are a good choice for a quick munch. By using an air fryer, you can achieve the same crispy texture without the excess oil and calories of deep-frying. And you can cook them in just 20 minutes, no need for seasoning, cutting, and peeling the potatoes. All come in a single pack, just take them out from the freezer and put them straight in your air fryer basket. And let the air fryer do the rest.

How To Cook Air fryer Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Fries

Trader Joe’s sweet potato fries can be quickly and easily air-fried and they provide a beautiful, crispy texture and maintain their nutritious content.

To prepare Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Fries, follow these simple steps:

Ingredients

1 pack (425 g) of Trader Joes Frozen Sweet Potato Fries

Kosher salt or pink salt, to taste

Black pepper, to taste

Step-By-Step Guide

Step-1:  Preheat the air fryer to 400 F.

Step-2: Take a pack of frozen trader Joe’s sweet potato fries. No need to thaw them, cook them straight from the fridge. Spread them evenly in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Step-3: Cook them for 14-16 minutes at 400 F shaking halfway through.

Step-4: Once done, take them out and spice them up with salt and pepper or your favorite seasonings.

Tips & Notes

1- You can also cook them directly without the need of preheating the air fryer. But adjust the cooking time by a couple of minutes in case you are using a non-preheated air fryer.

2- Shake the air fryer basket gently, so the fries don’t crack or break. You can even use foam to adjust the fries in a single layer after shaking.

3- If you are cooking them for a large family, then you can cook in multiple batches, no need to overcrowd the basket.

4- For cooking subsequent batches, reduce the cooking time by 2-3 minutes.

5- For your ease, you can set a timer to flip or shake the fries.

How can you top the sweet fries with shredded mozzarella cheese?

Although they taste well even if you eat them plain after air frying, for a salty and savory taste, top them with mozzarella cheese.

When the fries are done cooking in the air fryer, top them with mozzarella cheese and air fryer further for 3-4 minutes. I would recommend using aluminum foil before adding cheese on top of fries as cheese may drip and cause a mess in the air fryer.

What dipping sauces pair well with air-fried sweet potato fries?

I like to have them with ketchup and mayonnaise paste. But you can try different variations and create a mix and match-to satisfy your cravings. Some popular options are garlic aioli, honey mustard, chipotle mayo, BBQ sauce, and ranch dressing.

What seasonings or spices can I add to enhance the flavor of the sweet potato fries?

Sweet potato fries can be seasoned with a variety of spices and herbs to enhance their natural flavors and add a unique twist. My favorite variations are:

  • Classic salt and pepper
  • Smoky paprika
  • Garlic and onion powder
  • Cajun seasoning
  • Italian seasoning

Is it necessary to preheat the air fryer before cooking the fries?

No, it’s not necessary to preheat the air fryer before air frying sweet potato fries. But I like to reheat because frozen foods cook well with a preheated air fryer. It just not helps in even cooking, but makes the fries crispy and crunchy and prevents the food from sticking to the air fryer basket.
