I personally love fish, and some of the best fish types that I really have loved are Hamour, Salmon, Mahi Mahi, Red Snapper, and sea bass. Try Hamour especially, it’s very tasty, and its extra juice and flavor are just matchless. Although that’s my favorite choice, you can have a different choice. And fish is fish at the end of the day. So, you can try any fish with this recipe.

So, without any further delay, let’s just move toward the recipe.

What’s special about this recipe

Instead of simply air frying mahi mahi in an air fryer with some spices, we will be cooking breaded Mahi Mahi for extra crunch and a juicy taste.

This recipe for air-fried mahi mahi is definitely special! Not only are the fish fillets tender, juicy, and flavorful, but with an added crunch from the bread crumb coating, this dish is sure to be a hit.

Plus, it’s super easy to make – just coat the fillets in oil, and just 2-3 tsp of oil will be sufficient. Then coat the oiled fish in spices and bread crumbs, and let the air fryer do its thing!

You’ll have a delicious dish ready in no time, and everyone in your family will love it.

Step-By-Step Guide

mahi mahi fillets

Get the mixture ready

In your first step, Gather all the spices as stated above and mix them in a big bowl.

Coat Mahi Mahi Fillets

After the mixture is ready, cost the fillets in oil. You can use any oil, but I prefer using pure olive oil.

Apply the oil to the fillets and ensure no part of the fillets remain dry. You can also use your hands to coat well.

Once you have applied olive oil to the fillets, now put the fillets in that large bowl and mix them with spices and bread crumbs. Mix in such a way that the fillets can fully be covered with the mixture.

Since the fillets are already coated with oil, the mixture will automatically stick to them.

Rest Time

Now leave the fillets for 5-10 mins.

Preheating the air fryer

Meanwhile, the fillets are resting; you can preheat the air fryer.

Set the temperature to 400 F for 5 mins and let the air fryer be preheated.

Cooking Process

Place the mahi mahi fillets in a single layer in the air fryer. Make sure the fryers basket is not overfilled, and there is reasonable space between fish fillets.

Set the temperature to 375 F and the timer to 15 mins.

I do not like to cook fish for a long time and at high temperatures because it will get dry, and the taste will just be gone. I like it to be juicy inside and crunchy on the outside.

Extra Step

After 7 mins, take out your fryer basket and flip the fillets. And I would like to advise here that you can apply another tsp of oil on each fillet if you like it to be crispier and flakier.

Extra Tips & Instructions

This recipe is based on cooking fresh mahi mahi fillets. However, you can use the same for frozen fish fillets as well. Just don’t forget to thaw them completely first. You can thaw them at room temperature or else just soak them in water for 15-20 mins and then take them out.

You can use some brand seasoning as well. But I like to create seasoning for my personal satisfaction. Because the process is not complicated, and you have the control to add or subtract spices at your convenience.

What temperature is safe for mahi mahi?

The recommended safe temperature is 165 F – 175 F. At this internal temperature, you can safely eat mahi mahi fish fillets.

You can use Thermo Pro to check the internal temperature of any meat.
